Hard agree with this. I have an old Panasonic sound machine (the kind that plays a loop recording of white noise, or waterfalls, or a steam train...) that I set as an alarm when I need one. I wake up to church bells. No temptation to pick up the phone. It's quite small, too; easy to travel with. Though sometimes I forget to bring it, and the convenience of the phone alarm is hard to ignore...
