Couldn’t fall back to sleep after last nursing session, so enjoying a (now very rare) chill coffee in bed listening to the first episode. Congrats AHP!
I really appreciate hearing the behind the scenes. As someone who has considered starting a podcast (albeit by myself completely and as a non-known) it's a pretty amazing look at the machine. It's a wonder indie-casts get traction!
Another Round used to have a work advice segment with Stacey Marie Ishmael and I remember her giving SUCH good advice! I think she'd be a dream cohost.
Thanks for this great breakdown of what it takes to create and put out a podcast. (Plus I'm so excited to dive into Melody's Instagram highlights to learn more about the editing process.)
Adding another co-host idea: Anne Libby immediately came to mind as someone who fits your description (normal non-famous! incisive! empathetic!)
She's been thinking, teaching, and coaching on people management for decades, which means she's seen management trends come and go over time and throughout different industries. Her newsletter, On Management, is a deep well of insights, book/movie recommendations, and food for thought for creating better workplaces. (https://annelibby.email/about/) I think she'd be great!
Question for both women: What does your weekly schedule look like? I feel like writing a script to host episodes would take me a lot of time, but then I remember that I didn't ever spend *that* much time writing lectures when I taught. My lectures were never recorded for posterity, though! I just wonder how hosting/editing multiple shows while also doing other work (writing, for AHP) ends up playing out.
Totally enjoyed the first episode! And loved this behind the scenes interview. Though I logically know AHP and Josh were not in the same room, my brain definitely thought they were throughout. Melody is great at her job!
This was so interesting! Thanks for share the details on how the podcast came to life. I loved the first ep and can’t wait to listen to more.
Also - wanted to suggest Lauren Weinstein as a cohost. She’s a former Stanford GSB professor, communications expert, and career coach who focuses on authenticity and boundaries in the workplace (amongst other things).
Such a great explanation about all of the work that goes into a podcast. Excited to listen to the first episode! Host idea: one of the peer coaches from Empower Work. They support all kinds of folks going through difficult situations at work. I recommend their service to everyone after they helped me in a previous job. https://www.empowerwork.org/

Okay but can TAYLOR SWIFT be on the pod?!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I listen to far too many podcasts, and I love learning more about the process of how they get made.
