I'm somewhat nonplussed that given the diversity of the authors I've read, so many of my favorite authors are American white guys. I used to read Robert Barnard, and read a lot of African American mystery authors years ago (Walter Mosley, Barbara Neely, Valerie Wilson Wesley) as well as those set outside the U.S. (e.g. Bangkok 8, Nairobi Heat).
Literary feline sleuths - I would read every single book in such a series! Just sayin'.
