Having a 5 month old has been rough on my relationship with my spouse - we aren't arguing but often just can't think of anything to talk about other than household chores and baby care stuff. We bought a deck of Table Topics cards (the couples version) and have been using them during dinner. It's injected so much more life into our relationship. I want to get one of the friend or party sets to use with friends now, too.
We have been feeling a little stale and tired, so we signed up for the Paired app and try to do one quiz a day and then discuss our answers at night-- however, our kids are now staying up as late as we are (despite bedtimes at 9), so it's hard to have a deep conversation about Who Are We And Where Are We when my 8yo comes waltzing in trying not to giggle when he tells us for the umpteenth time that he can't sleep.
Oh good, I was watching ASCENSION and wondering if America was farming out all its sex dolls to the Chinese. Now if only women will start designing running shorts for men…..go ahead, just try googling 3” shorts for guys, I dare you!
Just after I read your email my husband told me he was going to Lowes, so I had him buy the planter you wrote about - well, actually, all 3 that the store had in stock. They are so good looking! My guess is that I'll order more because I can see them solving several problems in my garden. I also ordered the overalls. Thank you for shopping so I didn't have to!
Annie, re: Discovery+, I cannot, cannot cannot stop watching Magnolia network! You have to write about it, it’s fascinating. Different form of content, nothing political, just feel good, maker and creative TV. Jo and Chip are geniuses and in a world gone bad I can’t get enough of this wholesome loveliness.
* Petty pleasures ... -- My feeling towards crypto has been eerily similar to what I felt in 1999 with Enron. At that time, the company was being endlessly hyped in media for its genius transformation of [insert market here]. The more I read, the less I understood, and I felt like I was the World's Biggest Idiot for not getting it. There was FOMO as Enron rose, but because I Did Not Understand the business, I couldn't invest.
It was thus a relief to see these snippets. The first segment, especially, resonates with me because I feel like I've had this same discussion with my boss at (a finance company) where a working, well-defined, but onerous process is replaced with a new version of the same thing "on the blockchain" because ???
* Weird wrong-number texts - very enlightening. I'd never heard of that type of scam before.
* OXO - as it's peak cherry season in the PNW, I've been marveling how much I love my OXO pitter. (Even though the most recent bings are too big) And my OXO vegetable peeler for its feel.
* Creators of the male Sex dolls - wow. One of the things I love about you and this community is the thought-provoking discussions that change my mind. This is not something I would have initially read, but I am glad I did after you recommended it.

Your dahlia is just stunning! Is this one of Floret’s varieties? It looks like it would be perfectly at home on the new Barbie movie set.
Oh thank you, I wondered what kind of flower it is.
Crying at the sex doll story over breakfast.

I’m very interested in checking out the discords, but can’t figure out how to access it for the life of me. I’m signed in, but is there a link needed?
Email me (annehelenpertersen at gmail) and I'll send you the info!
Thanks!

She has written about Waco and Magnolia! https://annehelen.substack.com/p/in-reality-tv-defined-by-renovation?r=h62b&s=r&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web They are not as apolitical as you seem to think, though.
Thank you!!

I'm excited to dig into some of these links but woo, I bought that straw hat so fast, I'm furious. :D
So many great links!
